clASSified of the Weak: Turbo Superleggera

No Pressure

Turbo. Some of the greatest vehicles the world has ever seen owe their reputation to the humble snailshell under the hood. The Ferrari F40, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Renault R5 Turbo, and of course, the Porsche 911 Turbo. Just a few prime examples.

Even if your car didn't have a turbo from the factory, chances are, someone's made a kit to give your car that extra bit of boost. Many will turn to the 'no replacement for displacement cliche,' but there's no denying what a good turbo setup will get you.

But power isn't always everything. As Lotus founder Colin Chapman famously quipped, simplify and add lightness. He was talking about his cars. But why not apply that philosophy to the turbocharger? This seller on Facebook Marketplace may have thought the same thing.

A turbocharger is a simple concept but requires precise construction. These things can spin upwards of 250,000 RPM depending on its size. For comparison, your engine might rev up to 7,000 RPM at most. For the turbo to work effectively, everything has to be precisely balanced. A shift in its harmony will always result in a loss of performance at best and complete failure at worst. But we're sure this custom weight reduction job would impress Mr. Chapman.
